  • Resumen
    • The 'Mines and Minerals Development and Regulations (Amendment) Ordinance 2015' (MMDR), which is aimed at amending the archaic laws governing India's mineral sector, has received approval from India's President, Pranab Mukherjee.

      According to FIMI, the granting of mining leases discriminates between captive and non-captive mines, as once the extended leases have expired, operators of captive miners have the first right of refusal at auction - a privilege that is not available to non-captive miners.

      * Direct auction of mining leases for bulk minerals; auction of prospecting licences-cum-mining leases for deep-seated minerals (Section 10B & 11);
