esco's [Borth] site extracts about 1.5m tpa rock salt. According to the company, Borth salt's purity makes Reorganisation of the port at [Wesel] together with the construction of a new bypass and the Rhine bridge, were an important basis for restructuring Borth's logistics. Wesel's port is being operated by a newly established company, DeltaPort.
"As part of the new logistics concept, it was necessary to set up an additional warehouse in the Borth plant, in which four different product qualities can be stocked," explained Dirk Heinrich, head of production and technology at esco. "We have also established automated truck loading facilities for tipper trucks with tarpaulin covers, which transport the salt to the port," he added.
