  • Resumen
    • Jim Flowers, director of petroleum engineering for Imerys, said: "We've reached our limit of what we can do with spherical proppants. There's going to be a lot of research into other shapes in the future." The first fracking activity was recorded in the 1940s, but is a new development in the drilling of horizontal wells, Flowers said. "Fracking isn't new, it's been around for a long time, but horizontal drilling is something more recent." "Ever since that first fracking job in the forties, we've been trying to make proppants better, more spherical - but we've never really been able to make it cheaper."
