    David Coplet, CEO of Steinbock Minerals, told IM that although Liberian barite production has the potential to increase in the short term, mining activity at the company's barite operation in in the country has now been completely shut down.

    "Towards the end of last year there hadn't been any impact from low oil prices, but as of last week, US buyers have started to hold off on barite orders," the source, who wished to remain unnamed, told IM.
