Resumen de Fuentes británicas y alemanas sobre la Armada española a finales de 1942

El objetivo de este artículo consiste en valorar la utilidad de las fuentes extranjeras para la historia reciente de las Fuerzas Armadas españolas con el fin de saber si pueden compensar las dificultades de acceso a las fuentes nacionales. Para ello se analiza un informe británico y otro alemán sobre la Armada española en noviembre de 1942 y enero de 1943, respectivamente, comparándolos con las fuentes españolas accesibles. A pesar de sus limitaciones, ambos informes confirman hipótesis previas y aportan datos sobre las percepciones que influyeron en la política exterior de los beligerantes hacia España durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial.

The aim of this article is to evaluate the utility of foreign sources in exploring the recent history of the Spanish Armed Forces, and to assess if they can compensate for the difficulties of accessing national sources. To accomplish this objective, the article analyzes a British report and a German one about the Spanish Navy in November 1942 and January 1943, respectively. Although these reports have their limitations, they confirm previous hypotheses and provide information about the perceptions that influenced the making of the British and German foreign policy towards Spain during the Second World War.
