Actualmente, las organizaciones presentan una tendencia a invertir en tecnología de la información más que en desarrollar relaciones sociales, y no muchas han procurado la transformación cultural y de organización necesaria para promover la transmisión del conocimiento y su circulación. Al respecto, destaca la definición del Instituto Mexicano del Petróleo como una comunidad de aprendizaje, donde se reconoce que el conocimiento constituye el eje sustantivo del quehacer de la organización. Sin embargo, debe enfatizarse que el cambio en la manera de concebir a la organización y a las relaciones sociales que se generan en su interior se convierte en factor fundamental para conseguir y compartir el conocimiento, sobresaliendo la creatividad, así como la capacidad de cuestionar y aprender de los individuos.

At present, organizations display a tendency to invest more in technology of information than in developing social relations, and many have not tried cultural and organizational transformation needed to promote the transmission of knowledge and its circulation. Within this fact, the Mexican Petroleum Institute outstands as a learning community, where it is recognized that knowledge constitutes the axis of the organization’s tasks. However, it is important to emphasize that the change in the way of conceiving the organization and the social relations that are generated towards the interior, become fundamental factors for the attainment and sharing of knowledge, where they emphasize creativity as well as the capacity of individuals to question and to learn.
