    This study addresses the right to the city and describes the socioeconomic segregation of the Northeastern immigrants in the district Bairro Popular of the city of Rio Verde - Goiás. It is a field research that aims to analyze the phenomenon of housing, the separation of the social group and the sense of belonging of the subjects in relation to the resources offered by the neighborhood.

    This study is justified because it shows the need to construct a policy that eliminates social inequality and favors inclusion in the city so that migrant workers are able to enjoy the qualities and benefits that urban life offers. The urban planning, elaborated with specific laws from the Constitution of the Federative Republic of Brazil, constitutes the basic instrument in the fight against the difficulty of access to the city.

    Trata-se do direito à cidade e descreve a segregação socioeconômica dos imigrantes nordestinos no Bairro Popular da cidade de Rio Verde – Goiás. É uma pesquisa de campo que objetiva analisar o fenômeno da moradia, do afastamento do grupo social e a relação de pertencimento dos investigados com os recursos oferecidos pelo bairro. Justifica-se por mostrar a necessidade de se construir uma política que elimine a desigualdade social e favoreça a inclusão na cidade de forma que os trabalhadores migrantes recebam as qualidades e os benefícios que a vida urbana oferece. O planejamento urbano, elaborado com leis específicas previstas na Constituição da República Federativa do Brasil, constitui o instrumento básico no combate à dificuldade de acesso à cidade.
