  • Resumen
    • "In recent times there have been reports of a spike in suicides among FIFO workers in the Pilbara which has increased the focus on the need for enhanced mental health strategies for employees working in remote locations and/or away from family and friends," Alicia Ranford, director of Mining Family Matters, told IM.

"Wesley Mission is encouraged by the government's proactive approach and looks forward to being part of the network of support in battling this challenging social issue," Wesley Mission's CEO, the Reverend Dr Keith Garner, told IM.

"The Rock Solid Suicide prevention programme between Wesley Mission and Mining Family Matters is sure to be a pro-active catalyst for change," Garner said. "Within a few years, we believe that better policies and procedures around mental health will be a reality and their workplace adoption as conventional as safety protocols."
