The history of Civil Law in Genoa. The paper outlines a history of the teaching of Civil Law at the Law School of Genoa. It makes a distinction between an 'archaic period' (1885-1964) and a 'modern period' (1964 to present day) and it follows the lives and works of jurists who achieved a national and international reputation.
Through this paper, it is possible to identify a common ground between the jurists of the two periods in regards to a political commitment at various levels and the interest for methodological innovations and interdisciplinary perspectives.
