    La salud es un complejo proceso cualitativo que define el funcionamiento integral del hombre, vinculando de forma sistémica lo somático, psicológico y lo social, formando una unidad, donde la afectación de uno actúa necesariamente sobre el otro. La hipertensión arterial, dentro de las enfermedades crónicas es la de más importante repercusión en el orden personal, económico y sanitario y son muchos los factores que pueden influir negativamente en la evolución de esta enfermedad. Se realiza un estudio teórico con el objetivo de confeccionar un material que constituya un referente para que los profesionales y estudiantes de las ciencias médicas profundicen en este tema, teniendo en cuenta la actualidad y vigencia del mismo.

    Health is a complex qualitative process that defines the integral functioning of man, linking systemically somatic, psychological and social, forming a unit, where the affectation of one necessarily acts on the other. The arterial hypertension, within the chronic diseases is the one of more important repercussion in the personal, economic and sanitary order and many factors that can influence negatively in the evolution of this disease. A theoretical study is carried out with the aim of making a material that constitutes a reference for professionals and students of the medical sciences to deepen in this subject, taking into account the current and validity of the same.
