El escultor griego Policleto (480 A. de C.- ¿?) fue autor de la escultura llamada Doríforo, pero también de un tratado titulado Canon del que apenas se conserva un fragmento. «El hombre perfecto» trata de analizar no sólo las relaciones que pudieron existir entre la figura de bronce y el texto, sino también otro tipo de relaciones, aquellas que configuran los cánones, sean estos, siguiendo la distinción empleada por Gustavo Bueno, de carácter idiográfico o nomotético.
Paralelamente se exploran las convergencias entre el Aquiles de La Ilíada y la escultura, así como el modelo que el héroe trágico pudo suponer para el personaje histórico, pero también mitificado y canonizado, de Alejandro Magno.

The greek sculptor Polykleitos (480 B. C. - ?) was the author of the statue known as the Doryphoros but he also produced a treatise titled Canon, scarcely one fragment of which is known to us nowadays. This contribution analyzes the relationships which might have existed between the bronze sculpture of Polykleitos and his text. It extends this analysis to the problem of what kind of relationships among things are capture by the idea of canons – which, following Gustavo Bueno, shall be divided into nomothetic or idiographic. Finally, in order to analyze the process of mytification and canonization, the paper explores a number of convergences between Achilles in The Illiad and Polykleitos’ piece as well as the making of the heroic figure of Alexander the Great.
