No puede entenderse la ordenación urbana sin conocer la historia de un municipio. Y esa historia se comprende por los nombres de las calles, tanto las actuales como las antiguas, porque hay una motivación concreta para la imposición de un nombre. El estudio toponímico nos explica, además, no solo los continuos cambios en la fisonomía urbana, sino también los cambios políticos e ideológicos de sus habitantes.

We cannot understand the urban planning of a town without knowing its history. And that history is understood thanks to the street names, both the current and the oldest ones, because a specific motivation exists to give a name. The toponymic study explains, besides, not only the continuous changes in the urban appearance, but also the political and ideological changes of its inhabitants.
