Se aborda la ofensiva cultural estadounidense en Brasil y Argentina durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial en el marco del panamericanismo. Para conocer las corrientes culturales que atravesaron las Américas, se examinan en forma cruzada las ediciones en inglés, portugués y español de la revista Reader�s Digest, eje discursivo transversal que ayudó a construir una imagen positiva y exitosa de Estados Unidos en el continente. Los resultados evidencian la confluencia de intereses comerciales, económicos, militares y culturales que propiciaron la llegada del American Way of Life a América Latina, con consecuencias que impactaron el ámbito doméstico y las relaciones de género.

These is a research about the United States cultural offensive in Brazil and Argentina during the Second World War, in the framework of Pan Americanism. The English, Spanish and Portuguese editions of The Reader�s Digest magazine are examined as a cross transversal discursive, in order to know the cultural trends that crossed the Americas to construct a positive and successful image of the United States in the continent. The results of these research show the confluence of commercial, economic, military and cultural interests that led to the arrival of the American Way of Life in Latin America, with consequences that impacted the domestic sphere and gender relations ships.
