  • Resumen
    • The recent hacking of the MedStar Health hospital chain highlights the need for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to implement a law passed last year that would help protect the health care industry from cyber attacks, Sen Lamar Alexander (R, Tenn) said in a prepared statement (http://1.usa.gov/1S2rtz0).

The cyber attack forced MedStar Health to shut down its email and health records database in an effort to keep the computer virus from spreading. The incident followed similar cyber attacks on at least 3 other medical institutions in recent weeks, according to Alexander, chair of the Senate health committee.
