I think in order to answer this question properly, I must explain the role of M!INERALS within the context of the Cofermin Group, which has a portfolio of close to 200 individual products comprised of ores, minerals, chemicals and additives. The group has not traditionally focused too closely on the trading and distribution of classic Chinese industrial minerals such as bauxite, magnesite, silicon carbide and graphite. Where China was concerned, it was viewed more as a market, rather than a source of raw materials. Through M!INERALS, we are trying to bring more balance to the focus of Cofermin.
At M!INERALS, my job will be to broaden Cofermin's range of services out of China. My team and I aim to achieve this by being the close and accountable interface between the supply, the market and the logistics which bring the material to the final point of consumption.
Oliver Pirotte is to join Imerys as CFO from June, replacing former S&B CEO, Kriton Anavlavis, who took on the role in March after Imerys purchased the Greek bentonite producer.
