  • Resumen
    • In the 2015-2016 budget year, the Saskatchewan government forecasted oil revenue to be Canadian dollar (C$) 903m ($752.5m*). "After taking into account the in-year decline of C$259m in 2014-2015, the total fall in oil revenue since the 2014-2015 budget amounts to C$661m," the budget said.

In January, when his "Potash Taxation: How Canada's Regime is Neither Efficient nor Competitive from an International Perspective" report was released, [Jack Mintz] said that poorly designed policies were hindering Saskatchewan's economic potential, but he stressed that there were simple solutions to the policy problems.

"In fact, in recent years, where potash production and sales value rebounded substantially in Saskatchewan from 2009 levels, excessive tax allowances resulted in the province incurring three years of tax revenue losses from its potash production tax," he added.
