Resumen de De policías a profesores: la transformación institucional de la Banda Departamental de Antioquia, 1955-1970

  Este artículo centra su estudio en los cambios operados, a nivel institucional, por la Banda del Conservatorio de la Universidad de Antioquia, hasta el año de 1970, como se la denominó hasta el momento. Inicialmente en 1955 la Policía Departamental, fiel a la tradición histórica del inicio del siglo XX conformó una banda de músicos. Posteriormente en 1957, y debido a reordenamientos administrativos en cultura, sus integrantes abandonan el estamento policial y se adscriben a la sección de Extensión Cultural Departamental de Antioquia que perteneció en su momento a la Secretaria de Educación. Por esta vía, en 1961 se vinculan sus integrantes al Conservatorio de la Universidad de Antioquia, haciendo posible que algunos de sus integrantes fuesen docentes en sus aulas. Estos cambios permiten observar las formas en que se hizo profesional el oficio de músico en  Antioquia a mediados del siglo XX.

  This article analyzes the institutional changes experienced by the Band of the Conservatory of the University of Antioquia, as it was denominated until 1970. In its beginning in 1955, it followed the early-twentieth-century tradition of creating a music band in an armed force such as the Departmental Police. Later, in 1957, due to administrative reorganizations, its members left the police and became ascribed to the Office of Cultural Extension (Secretary of Education) of the Antioquia Department. Through this way, in 1961 the musicians were integrated to the Conservatory at the University of Antioquia, making it possible that several of them became professors at the school. Those changes make evident the ways in which the trade of the musicians became a profession in Antioquia during the mid-twentieth century
