Ms. Yousafzai has championed the rights of girls and women to equality of educational opportunity and has been outspoken in her beliefs that the human right to be educated should not be negated by the imposition of structural barriers, whether these be religious, cultural, political, legal, economic, institutional, social, or physical. [...]from an occupational perspective, the 2014 Norwegian Nobel Committee elected, in essence, to honour the exemplary work of two people who recognize that violations of occupational rights are violations of human rights. First is the ability to discern the impact of institutional and social conditions-such as economic and policy decisions, colonialism, disabilism, ageism, sexism, racism, heterosexism, poverty, and stigma-on inequalities.
