  • Resumen
    • In this paper, we propose an image coding method, which basically consists on the application of vector quantization and appropiate post-processing in order to minimize the mosaic effect. We have to store a monographic image data base. We use a hierarchical multirate vector quantization to code the data base so in a low bit rate basis and tolerable SNR. HMVQ is a suitable algorithm to separate different contrast blocks in each image. This division provides a reconstruction selective filtering to minimize the mosaic effect. Each block will be filtered according to its characteristics. The gap between contiguous blocks is minimized with low contrast sub-images. At the same time, edge blocks will mantain image details.
