Las plazas de toros en Álava

    Este trabajo presenta un breve análisis de la tipología de las diferentes plazas de toros que se han erigido en el territorio alavés desde cuando se tienen noticias escritas sobre su ubicación, disposición o construcción. El método empleado se ha sustentado en la consulta de las fuentes escritas localizadas en los diferentes archivos de la capital alavesa y su provincia, y la bibliografía relacionada con el tema a investigar. Pero no por ello se han descartado las fuentes orales empleadas para la reconstrucción de algunos hechos puntuales. Es evidente la omisión de algunas plazas de toros, no por desconocimiento, sino porque la lista de localidades que han celebrado festejos taurinos y han necesitado instalar recintos para su desarrollo, sería bastante extensa

    This paper offers a brief analysis of the different types of bullrings that have been built in the province of Álava since written records of their location, arrangement or construction began. The information was gathered mainly by consulting written sources in the different archives located in the capital, Vitoria-Gasteiz, and the rest of the province, as well as existing literature on the theme. However, attention was also paid to oral sources, which were used to reconstruct certain isolated events. Clearly some buillrings have not been included in the analysis, not due to a lack of knowledge of their existence but rather because the list of towns that have held bulllfights and have required the construction of the corresponding facilities in fairly extensive.
