Resumen de Far Eastern promise: : Dalgraphite to boost Russian graphite production

Industrial Minerals

  • Dalgraphite is developing the Topohinskogo area of the Soyuznoye graphite deposit in Russia's Jewish Autonomous Region (JAR). Located in the country's Far East, the area borders China's Heilongjiang province, which is one of the world's leading graphite-producing regions. The JAR is rich with various minerals, but has remained undeveloped due to its poor infrastructure and its distance from the main industrial areas of central Russia.

"However, the development of infrastructure and the proximity of such markets as Japan, South Korea and the US give Dalgraphite good opportunities in terms of exports. It is also important to bear in mind that, according to the company's preliminary calculations, Dalgraphite's material will be competitive on price in the global market," he added.

"In my opinion, Dalgraphite's project should be aimed at ensuring the security of the Russian refractories industry, by providing a sufficient raw materials base at competitive prices," said Anatoly Kazantsev, head of the department of industry and consumer markets for the government of the JAR. "It may give impetus to industrial development [in Russia]," he added.
