Resumen de York Potash approved as Sirius triumphs in close-run vote

James Sean Dickson

  • "This is really just the beginning for the company - we have made a major step forward and now have a pathway to reaching production," Sirius' CEO, Chris Fraser, said, reportedly leaving the planning meeting to jubilant cheers from supporters of the project.

"I appreciate that there will be many disappointed by [the] decision but members felt that the long-term benefits for the local, regional and national economy were transformational," Andy Wilson, the CEO of the NYMNPA, said, adding that the proposal was the largest that any national park authority had been required to consider.

"Sirius used to have a number of institutions on the register, but most of these have dropped off over the past few years as the sector has fallen out of favour and as the project saw wild swings in sentiment regarding its ability to get approval," RFC Ambrian said.
