  Este artículo analiza las funciones de la voz en off infantil y de la música en relación con el tema de la descomposición familiar en dos películas argentinas protagonizadas por un niño o una niña: La vida según Muriel (Milewicz, 1997) y Valentín (Agresti, 2002). Primero, las compara brevemente a Kamchatka (Piñeyro, 2002) y Francia (Caetano, 2009), mostrando que el uso de la voz en off en estos filmes manifiesta la necesidad simbólica de los niños de desarrollar la capacidad verbal para compensar la ausencia o separación de sus padres. Segundo, examina cómo en las películas de Milewicz y de Agresti ambientadas respectivamente en los años 90 y 60, el vínculo entre el niño o la niña y su padre así como las canciones escuchadas autorizan una lectura alegórica, permitiendo interpretar los personajes infantiles como las figuras de una nación medio huérfana en busca de su voz propia.

  This article analyses the functions of the child’s voice-over and of the music in relation to the theme of the breakdown of the family in two Argentine films with a child protagonist: La vida según Muriel (Milewicz, 1997) and Valentín (Agresti, 2002). First, it compares these films to Kamchatka (Piñeyro, 2002) and Francia (Caetano, 2009), showing that in each case the use of the voice-over manifests the children’s symbolic need to develop verbal skills in order to compensate for the absence or separation of their parents. Second, the article examines how in the films by Milewicz and Agresti, which are set in the 1990s and 1960 respectively, the link between the child and his or her father, together with the songs, allow for an allegorical reading. Following this, the child characters may be said to represent a semi-orphan nation in search of its own voice, a notion thaty enriches the interpretation of the films.
