the JIF is viewed as a measure of the prestige of a journal and hence, the higher the impact factor, the higher the prestige of the journal. JIF evaluation processes consider factors such as the journal's publishing standards, content, the international diversity of its authorship and its review board, and citations to the journal itself and its contributing authors. Since May 2006, several changes have been made to CJOT editorial policy to strengthen the journal's publishing standards and overall quality (Finlayson, 2007, 2008b).
