Resumen de Sérgio Buarque de Holanda: escritor e crítico literário

The main idea of this paper is to reveal the genesis of the independent intellectual that Sérgio Buarque de Holanda was, present since his early writings, but particularly in his speeches and actions. Firstly, we will analyse his initial years as a student, when he wrote his first article, published by his teacher of Alfonso Taunay. From them on, we will notice how the refined, daring and provocative style of the young Sergio was present from his first studies. The improvement of this phase leads to the formation of the literary critic, a role that he did more need than by will, but wish increased the knowledge in several areas.

A ideia central deste artigo é discutir e revelar a gênese do intelectual independente que foi Sérgio Buarque de Holanda, presente desde seus primeiros escritos, mas, sobretudo, em seus discursos e ações. Para isso, a priori, será realizada uma análise de seus anos iniciais como estudante secundarista, quando escreveu seu primeiro artigo, publicado pelas mãos de Afonso Taunay, seu professor. A partir daí, observa-se como o estilo refinado, ousado e provocador do jovem Sérgio esteve presente desde os seus primeiros estudos. A lapidação dessa fase desembocou, com efeito, na formação do crítico literário, função que exerceu mais por necessidade que por gosto, mas que permitiu a ampliação de conhecimento em diversas áreas.
