En 1981, al abrigo y sensibilidad de la democracia española, surge el Museo Histórico de Puente Genil como la institución municipal encargada de preservar, difundir e investigar el patrimonio arqueológico de la zona. En la década de los noventa el Museo se instala en el convento de La Victoria. Después de obras de restauración en el edificio se crea la Sección de Etnografía, en torno a la industria del membrillo.

The Museo Histórico de Puente Genil was born in 1981 under the cover of Spanish democracy and its sensibility. It was considered to be a local institution in charge of keeping, displaying and researching the archeological heritage of the area. In the 1990s, the museum was placed in the convent of «La Victoria» (17th century) and then, after the remodeling works, a section devoted to Ethnography, dealing with the quince jelly manufacturing industry, was added.
