    Este artículo propone una reflexión histórica sobre las características del conocimiento generado en terapia ocupacional y sus relaciones con el contexto de su producción. Su objetivo es determinar si las ideas originales de los fundadores constituyeron un paradigma o matriz disciplinar. Para lograr este objetivo se ha llevado a cabo un análisis de los textos originales de los fundadores. El criterio utilizado para realizar el análisis ha sido la interpretación ontológica sobre el valor terapéutico que se atribuía a la ocupación en tales escritos. Posteriormente, se han agrupado los rasgos comunes de aquellas interpretaciones sobre el valor terapéutico de la ocupación que pueden identificarse en los textos, para compararlas con el concepto de paradigma. El resultado de la investigación nos permite afirmar que las ideas de los fundadores no constituyeron un paradigma o matriz disciplinar. La ausencia inicial de un paradigma condicionó la posterior evolución de la teoría de la terapia ocupacional.

    This article proposes an historical reflection about the characteristics of the knowledge obtained in occupational therapy and their relations with the context of its production. The article's objective it is to decide if the original ideas of the founders built a paradigm. To achieve this objective, an analysis has been done on the original texts of the founders. The criteria used to carry out this analysis, is the ontological interpretation related to the therapeutic values attributed to the occupation of those texts. Afterwards, the common characteristics of those interpretations related to the therapeutic value of the occupation, have been grouped, to compare them with the concept of paradigm. The outcomes of the research allow us to affirm that the ideas of the founders did not build a paradigm. The initial absence of a paradigm determined the following evolution of the occupational therapy's theory
