This contribution is focused on the edition, and translation, of unpublished letters in Arabic, written by, translated by and sent to simone assemani (1752-1821), numismatist and orientalist. Seven documents have been selected for publication: the draft of a letter to O.G. Tychsen (1734-1815), the famous German numismatist; three drafts for cardinal Stefano Borgia, Secretary of Propaganda Fide; one letter by the head of a maronite convent; and two letters by a missionary, of Syrian origins, from Venice and Rome. The author aims at investigating the historical and cultural context, which this correspondence mirrors.
