El presente artículo reporta una revisión documental sobre la obra La escuela capitalista escrita por Christian Baudelot y Roger Establet. Su propósito es analizar los aportes teóricos que tienen vigencia para comprender la educación latinoamericana del siglo XXI. La metodología consistió en la lectura crítica, el análisis del texto a la luz de los conceptos: Proyecto social, nuevos escenarios, demandas educativas, transformación de la sociedad, la educación como derecho humano, calidad y formación permanente de maestros. En las argumentaciones fueron considerados autores contemporáneos y documentos oficiales de organismos internacionales. Se concluye que la principal preocupación de los autores fue la inequidad del sistema educativo, dificultad que aún persiste en la sociedad latinoamericana, y como solución la integración social. También se advierte que las políticas de Estado y la acción de los docentes son vitales en la configuración de un ciudadano responsable ante los problemas de la sociedad.
The present article reports a critical review of The Capitalist School written by Christian Baudelot and Roger Establet. The purpose was to analyze the theoretical contributions that could help understand Latin American education of the 21st century. The methodology consisted in the critical reading and analysis of contents in the light of concepts such: social project, new scenarios, educational demands, transformation of society, education as a human right, quality and permanent teacher training. In the arguments, contemporary authors and official documents from international organizations were considered. It is concluded that the main concern of the authors was the inequality of the educational system, which still persists in the Latin American society, proposing as solution social integration. It is also noted that state policies and teacher action are vital in shaping a citizen responsible to the problems of society.
