II rapporte tra M. Le Lannou e l'Italia fu duraturo e tutt'altro che casuale. Individuando un approccio délia terra differenziata daN'uomo-abitante, l'epistemologia di questo ignoto precursore è del tutto attuale ora che si riscopre la geografia régionale. M. Le Lannou aveva una lettura geo-storica dello spazio che considerava globale, e ne metteva in luce le linee di forza ed i processi, le relazioni tra fatti storici e geografici idonei a rendere conto corne intrecci di caratteri differenziano un territorio. Nel caso tanto délia Sardegna quanto del confine orientale dell'ltalia, ha indagato a fondo sull' avvicendata appropriazione del territorio dai gruppi e sulla spartizione dello spazio geografico. Era I 'Italia lo spazio piu idoneo per tale approccio ? E perché la Sardegna, la sua regione piu atipica ?

The links between Maurice Le Lannou and Italy were longstanding and continuous. The geographical ideas of this little known pioneer, which focused on the question of spatial differentiation and the notion of 'man as an inhabitant', have again become topical with the rediscovery of regional geography. Maurice Le Lannou adopted an historical-geographic approach : he considered space in its totality, only taking into account the main features and processes which explain the interrelationship between geographical and historical factors and which give a distinctive character to an area. In studying Sardinia and the eastern border area of Italy he sought to demonstrate what had modified the relationships between different groups and their spatial settings and what had influenced the division of geographical space. However, it is questionable whether Italy is well-adapted to such an approach. Similarly, why was Sardinia chosen, for it is the country's most atypical region ?

Les liens de M. Le Lannou avec l'Italie furent anciens et constants. Privilégiant la différenciation de l'espace et l'homme-habitant, la pensée géographique de ce précurseur méconnu revêt une grande actualité aujourd'hui où on redécouvre la géographie régionale. M. Le Lannou en faisait une approche géohistorique : appréhendant l'espace dans sa globalité, il ne prenait en compte que les lignes de force et processus expliquant une interrelation de faits historiques et géographiques qui personnalisaient un territoire. Ainsi avec l'étude de la Sardaigne et celle de la frontière orientale de l'Italie, il s'était attaché à ce qui avait modifié les rapports des groupes à leurs territoires et présidé au partage de l'espace géographique. Mais l'Italie se prêtait-elle le mieux à une approche de ce genre ? Et pourquoi le choix de la Sardaigne, la plus atypique de ses régions ?
