    El PIGG se inició en 1972 y el comité costarricense unos tres años después.El CCPIGG promueve y coordina el enrolamiento activo de nuestros geólogos en los proyectos del Programa. Durante 1993-94 los geocientíficos que laboran en Costa Rica participaron en ocho diferentes proyectos, y aportaron un total de veintiún contribuciones, el 86% originadas en grupos totalmente nacionales. Durante este bienio el número de contribuciones aumentaron un 62% con respecto al anterior.

    IGCP started in 1972 and Costa Rican Committee three years later. CCPIGG promotes and coordinates the active involvement of our geologists into the Program's projects. During 1993-94, the geoscientists who work in Costa Rica participated in eight difference projects and presented twenty one contributions, 86% of them origined in totally national teamworks. During this bienium, the number of contributions increased in 62% compared with the previous one.
