    The time for politics. -- How do political meetings during election campaigns affect the support that the inhabitants of rural communes give to the factions dividing local society ? Among the many sorts of public events abounding during campaigns, attention is focused on meetings as a staging of the encounter between the top and bottom of the social hierarchy and between rival political factions. These political ceremonies are essential to constructing a special moment, the time for politics, when the society can form networks of sociability other than those based on the family, neighbourhood and religious community.

    Cet article analyse le rôle des meetings politiques lors des campagnes électorales dans l'adhésion des habitants des communes rurales aux diverses factions qui les divisent. Parmi toutes les formes de manifestations publiques qui foisonnent pendant ces périodes de campagnes, il privilégie les meetings comme dramatisation de la rencontre entre le haut et le bas de la hiérarchie sociale et des factions politiques rivales. Ces rituels politiques s'avèrent essentiels dans la construction sociale d'un moment particulier, le temps de la politique, qui permet à la société de se constituer en réseaux de sociabilité autres que la famille, le voisinage la communauté religieuse.
