This article reviews the editorial history of Silvio Santiago’s novel O silencio redimido, released in 1976, but first submitted to the Spanish censorship in 1964. After situating the author in Galician Literature in the early 1960s, the article examines public and private documentation, and analyzes the cultural quarrel surrounding the manuscript of the novel. This hidden history is a case study that will contribute to descriptions of the history of Galician literary and political life during Francoism. Finally, this research also aims to explore a genealogy of Galician novels of memory.
Este artigo repasa a historia editorial da novela de Silvio Santiago O silencio redimido, publicada en 1976, pero que fora enviada á censura a principios dos anos 60. Despois de situar o autor no contexto da literatura galega dos anos 60, o artigo examina documentación pública e privada, e analiza a loita cultural que arrodeou a manuscrito da novela. Esta historia oculta é un caso representativo que permite unha mellor descrición da vida política e literaria de Galicia durante o Franquismo. Por último, esta investigación tamén procura axudar a facer unha xenealoxía da novela da memoria.
