La guerra justa de Barack Obama y los escolásticos hispanos (Vitoria y Las Casas). Análisis comparativo

    El objetivo de este trabajo consiste en desvelar las semejanzas y diferencias de los escolásticos hispanos (Vitoria y Las Casas) y el presidente estadounidense Barack Obama en relación con la guerra justa (bellum iustum en expresión de los primeros). La hipótesis central es la siguiente: ¿La semejanza entre ellos es tan intensa que podemos afirmar que el presidente Obama puede ser considerado un seguidor de nuestros escolásticos? Por lo tanto, no es objetivo de este trabajo el examen de la filosofía de los escolásticos hispanos, sobre la que se han escrito ríos de tinta, y de Obama, sino de analizar las diferencias y nexos de la filosofía belicista (un tipo concreto de filosofía) de los citados autores. Creo que no es desacertado asegurar que Obama sigue los pasos de la Escolástica española, lo que es puesto de manifiesto por la correspondencia entre el concepto, finalidad, requisitos de la guerra justa apuntados por los escolásticos hispanos, Vitoria y Las Casas, y los reseñados por el presidente estadounidense en sus discursos

    The present essay tries to establish the similarities and differences of the hispanic scholastics (Vitoria and Las Casas) and US President Barack Obama regarding the just war (bellum iustum, according the denomination of the scholastics). The hypothesis of the study is as follows: the similarity between them is so intense that we can say that Obama can be considered a follower of our scholastics? Therefore, is not objective of this work the examination of the philosophy of the scholastics, on which is have written rivers of ink, and of Obama, but analyze the differences and links of the philosophy of war (a type concrete of philosophy) of the cited authors. I think that it is not an error to say that Obama follows in the footsteps of the spanish scholasticism. This is evidenced by the harmony between the concept, purpose, requirements of a just war, contained in the writings of the hispanic scholastics, Vitoria and Las Casas, and in the speeches of Barack Obama.
