This notion appears in Issues of Pragmaticism (1905), in which Peirce evokes the notion of “boundary” or “limit.” The concept acquires its very meaning within the framework of a philosophy of determination and a philosophy of truth. We shall try to analyze both the underlying logic and philosophy of it, by seeking to show that therein lies perhaps, through an original philosophy of the continuum, one of the most enlightening concepts of Peirce’s pragmatism.

Cette notion apparaît dans Les enjeux du pragmaticisme (1905), où Peirce évoque la notion de « frontière » ou de « limite ». Le concept prend tout son sens dans le cadre d’une philosophie de la détermination et d’une philosophie du vrai. On essaiera d’en analyser à la fois la logique et la philosophie sous-jacentes, en cherchant à montrer que nous avons peut-être là, au travers d’une philosophie originale du continu, l’un des concepts les plus éclairants du pragmatisme peircien.
