Resumen de El advenimiento de Amalivaca, una leyenda guyanesa en Martí

El trabajo parte de un análisis hecho por el ensayista cubano Cintio Vitier sobre la figura mítica del Gran Semí, como fuente venezolana que aparece en el ensayo Nuestra América de José Martí, en sus coincidencias con Amalivaca y su expansión hacia interpretaciones que lo relacionan con una leyenda guyanesa donde se explica la génesis de esta figura mítica, así como su esencia humanística y regeneradora según apreciaciones de la autora.

This article begins with an analysis made by the Cuban essayist Cintio Vitier about the mythical figure of the Great Semí, which appears in a Venezuelan source that appears in the essay “Nuestra America”, written by José Martí, in his coincidences with Amalivaca and his expansion toward interpretations that relate him with a Guyanese legend where it is explained the genesis of this mythical figure, as well as his humanistic essence according to author's appreciations.
