En el presente artículo analizamos los conceptos de ‘batalla tan santa’, ‘martirio’ y ‘palma de la victoria’ en la Crónica de Pero Niño, escrita por Gutierre Díaz de Games durante el siglo xv. En primer lugar, estudiamos el problema entre cristianos y musulmanes en la frontera de Granada, contrastando el lenguaje de la guerra utilizado en las crónicas hispanas de los siglos xiv y xv. Posteriormente, revisamos el lenguaje de la guerra santa en la Crónica de Pero Niño y la búsqueda de la honra y la fama caballeresca.

In this present article we analyze the concepts of ‘batalla tan santa’, ‘martirio’ and ‘palma de la victoria’ in the Chronicle of Pero Niño, writing by Gutierre Díaz de Games during fifteenth century. First, we study the problem between Christians and Muslims in the Granada frontier, contrasting the language of the war that uses the Hispanic chronicles in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Subsequently, we review the language of holy war in the Chronicle of Pero Niño and the pursuit of chivalrous honor and fame.
