La obra de Goethe en Inglaterra es, desde hace varios siglos, un tema preferente de los comparatistas a ambos lados del canal de la Mancha. En contraste con el tema de Shakespeare en Alemania, la investigación de este encuentro literario no se ha extraviado nunca con especulaciones soberanas sobre el contraste esencial de ambos mundos culturales y lingüísticos.
Esta aportación se propone como objetivo, de la mano de dos poemas muy ilustrativos del Goethe preclásico, una humilde ampliación de los fundamentos materiales al servicio de los esfuerzos de la comparatística.
The work of Goethe in England has been a central issue among comparative analysts at both sides of the Channel. In contrast to the Shakespeare topic in Germany, research about this literature meeting has not become lost with sovereign speculations about the essential contrast between cultural and linguistic worlds.
This contribution has as its main objective, through the analysis of two illustrative poems of the pre-classic work of Goethe, a humble extension of the material foundations serving the efforts of comparative.
