    The collapse of the soviet system has led to a current recombining of the ex-collectivist Europe ant to its insertion to the market economy, which contributes thus to the continental refashioning. The active influence of the West, especially through Germany and the European Union, allows to turn the geopolitical assets to account, in order to create somehow "the common place", which may extend from Atlantic to Pacific. This trend however can`t be unilateral. The East for its part, deeply marked, too, by historical and spatial original structures, asserts itself by its specifities and demands a geopolitical approach that the West can't ignore.

    L'effondrement du système soviétique a conduit à une recomposition, en cours, de l'Europe ex-collectiviste et à son insertion à l'économie de marché, contribuant ainsi au refaçonnement continental. L'influence active de l'Ouest, notamment par l'Allemagne et l'Union européenne interposées, permet de mettre à profit les atouts géopolitiques pour créer d'une certaine façon "la maison commune" susceptible de s'éntendre de l'Atlantique au Pacifique. Cette orientation ne saurait toutefois être unilatérale. L'Est de son côté, profondément marqué lui aussi par des structures originales tant historiques que spatiales, s'affirme par ses spécifités et requiert une approche géopolitique que l'Ouest ne saurait ignorer.
