Resumen de Conviviendo en la Tierra de Ñane Ramõi Jusu Papa: una etnografía de las relaciones entre los Paï Tavyterã y los animales

Teniendo en consideración las recientes contribuciones que destacan las interacciones - materiales y simbólicas - entre humanos y animales (y otros no-humanos) como forma privilegiada para entender lo social a partir de fronteras y sentidos más amplios, el presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo elaborar una etnografía sobre las relaciones de los indígenas con los animales en la vida cotidiana. La investigación tuvo en foco al pueblo Pai Tavyterã, y fue desarrollada en la comunidad Ita Guasu, en el distrito de Pedro Juan Caballero, departamento de Amambay, Paraguay. A través de las descripciones de las mitologías y de las actividades cotidianas, este estudio hace el intento de comprender el sistema y los significados cul- turales Paï Tavyterã en los que se enmarcan las interacciones entre humanos y animales, buscando observar las relaciones de diferentes actores personas y animales — y describir los delicados hilos que forman esas entrelazadas redes. Fue posible constatar que una aproximación que se- pare ontológicamente la naturaleza y la cultura dificulta la comprensión de dichas interrelaciones, ya que debido a la configuración jerárquica del cosmos, cada ser que lo habita posee sus propias características, intenciones y estrategias para convivir, actuar y alcanzar sus objetivos.

Recent contributions highlight the - material and symbolic - interactions between humans and animals (and other non-humans) as a privileged way to understand the social from expanded margins and senses. Taking this in consideration, the following research aimed to develop an ethnography on the relations between animals and indigenous people in everyday life. It focused on the Paï Tavyterã peoples, and it had been developed in the indigenous community of Ita Guasu in Pedro Juan Caballero (Amambay Department) Paraguay. This research is an attempt to understand the system and cultural meanings of the Paï Tavyterã, in which the relationship between humans and animals is found, through the descriptions of mythologies and everyday practices. The author seeks to observe the relations of different actors - human and animals - and describe how the delicate threads which form such intricate webs. It is possible to verify that an approach which separates nature and culture in an ontologically way make difficult to understand these relations.This is because, by the hierarchical configuration of the cosmos of Paï Tavyterã peoples, every being that inhabits it has its own characteristics, intentions and strategies to live, act and achieve their objectives.
