    El presente artículo ejemplifica mediante el relato los viajes del farmacólogo francés Bernardin Martín, editado en 1699 en Amsterdam, la idealización visual que de Aranjuez se produce durante el siglo XVII. La imagen plástica del lugar no se construye sobre su contemplación directa, sino sobre una écfrasis cuyo análisis permite establecer el grado de correspondencia entre la identidad física del enclave y su representación gráfica. Asimismo, el estudio histórico-artístico del grabado de Aranjuez induce a adscribir las trece imágenes anónimas que ilustran el libro al entorno del artista flamenco Romeyn de Hooghe.

    The present article provides an example of the visual idealisation of Aranjuez wich occurred in the seventeenth century through Bernandin Martin, a French chemist´s narrative of travels, which were published in 1699 in Amsterdam. The image on paper, is not based on tis direct contemplation, but rather on the use of an ekphrasis, in which the analysis enables the establishment of a degree of correspondence between the physical identity of the site and tis graphical representation thereof. Furthermore, this historical-artistic study of the engraving devoted to Aranjuez, one of a set of thirteen anonymous images, illustrated in the book attributes the authorship of all the engravings to Flemish artist, Romeyn de Hooghe´s circle.
