    • "On these big sites it's really difficult and time consuming to find, communicate and then manage employees to keep them safe and efficient, so this application really lets managers visualise all of their people and assets on the single map interface," Lightship's CEO, Jaethan Reichel, told IM.

"We've gone through some initial negotiations with some large unions to talk about the way that information will be used and so far they've been satisfied that we're taking this information and all of the tracking that's being done is being done when the employee is aware and has opted in," Reichel said.

A bigger challenge for the company has been waiting for technology to catch up with Lightship's ideas. Modern beacon technology, for example - which allows Lightship to extend location tracking into underground environments - is less than a year old.
