La meralgia parestésica se produce por compresión del nervio fémoro-cutáneo debajo del ligamento inguinal y se manifiesta por dolor y hormigueo en la cara ántero-lateral del muslo. El diagnóstico debe ser clínico; cuando existen dudas se debe realizar estudio de neuroconducción. Su tratamiento consiste en perder peso, evitar ropa ajustada, modificaciones de postura, terapia física, infiltraciones locales con corticosteroides y en casos refractarios se realizará tratamiento quirúrgico.

Meralgia paresthetica is caused by compression of the lateral femorocutaneous nerve under the inguinal ligament. It’s manifested through pain and tingling in the anterolateral aspect of the thigh. The diagnosis must be clinical and in case of doubt nerve conduction study should be performed. Its treatment consists on losing weight, avoiding tight clothing, changes in posture, physical therapy, local injections with corticosteroids, and in refractory cases surgical treatment will be performed.
