The essay aims at analyzing in depth the fantastic dimension in Giuseppe Bonaviri’s artistic itinerary, pointing out its themes and peculiarities and outlining a picture of consonances and differences with other authors – from Popp to Calvino, from Andersen to Capuana, Rodari, Lodi, up to Walt Disney and his stories. The dialectic relationship with the fairy-tale tradition – both North-Western and Sicilian-Mediterranean – is laid bare. A window onto the communicative dynamics that take place between author and reader, with socio-linguistic inquiries. The fairy-tale code in Bonaviri is a privileged observatory and is characterized by a systematical denunciation of the reality and a return to it through uncommon visions and solutions.
