  • Resumen
    • The drought in capital poses particular problems for the junior graphite mining industry, which views the process of getting into production as a race to jump through an as yet undefined window of future demand. Opinion is divided over how much new graphite the world needs to meet projected consumption growth in the coming years and what sort of premium buyers will be prepared to pay for "green" supply chains, over the bargain basement prices charged for material from polluting Chinese operations.

Away from batteries, Analyst, Shruti Salwan, takes a look at some of the trends that are shaping the present refractories-led graphite market ( pp39-41 ), while IM Consultant, Andrew Scogings, outlines some of the exploration techniques available to, and favoured by, the graphite mining industry ( pp42-46 ).

One of the factors that stoked the flames beneath the graphite industry's bubbling cauldron during the peak years of 2010-2011 was the issue of supply security, a notion that sits across both the "strategic" and "critical" definitions applied to certain minerals and metals.
