A documentary record of a monstrance made out of precious materials is here an excuse to analyze the different ways of understanding dependency relations. A group of objects related to the Eucharist and therefore to the central symbols of Christendom is dealt with exclusively from the formalist point of view. Drawing from archival records as well as formal analyzes, this paper traces some monstrances having in common a two-headed eagle. Trough this analytical disassembly, the author intends to reverse a historiographical issue, according to which the models - of anything - had to spring out from the king’s court.
