Aspectos negativos del uso del internet en la educación superior

    Sin duda alguna el Internet se ha convertido en la más grande revolución de la comunicación desde la invención de la imprenta. Hoy en día encontramos miles de libros, revistas, artículos de periódicos y otros medios que nos dan cuenta de la importancia de esta nueva herramienta como el factor más importante en el intercambio de la información.

    Todas las áreas y actividades del quehacer humano se han visto influenciadas y afectadas por esta tecnología desarrollada en gran medida gracias a la investigación generada desde diversas Universidades en todo el mundo. De este modo se genera una nueva plataforma que permite compartir la información y el conocimiento en las instituciones de educación superior.

    Antes del Internet, el docente era la única referencia que tenía el alumno para el acceso al saber. El catedrático poseía el monopolio del conocimiento especializado, de las materias, dominaba los conceptos, las teorías, las leyes, los procedimientos, los métodos, la bibliografía, y todos los recursos del proceso enseñanza-aprendizaje. Para cualquier alumno la única forma alternativa de acceso al conocimiento de una disciplina científica era la búsqueda de textos en una biblioteca, lo cual representaba una tarea tediosa, larga y limitada.

    Hoy en día, Internet, permite romper ese estereotipo del saber. Cualquier estudiante puede acceder y rebasar de manera incalculable los conocimientos de su profesor y, por extensión, del resto del mundo. Así de esta forma los estudiantes tienen la posibilidad de encontrar una enorme variedad de información que puede enriquecer de manera significativa su proceso de aprendizaje.

    La formación de profesionales capaces de aprender de forma flexible, apoyados en el uso de la tecnología, es uno de los retos más importantes que enfrentan las instituciones de educación superior hoy en día en la sociedad de la información y del conocimiento.

    Sin embargo, las facilidades que brinda esta alternativa como fuente de información generan al mismo tiempo aspectos negativos en la formación académica de los estudiantes, mismos que deben ser atendidas por quienes ejercen la función de formación educativa en las universidades.

    El aspecto negativo del Internet proviene de su propia naturaleza sin regulaciones y restricciones. El intercambio de información es libre y sin control, lo que da como resultado una confusión de opciones en la difusión de trabajos académicos cuyo contenido puede ser falso, con errores o por que la información no está actualizada. El conflicto de esta situación radica en el hecho de que los estudiantes de educación superior han conceptualizado al Internet como una fuente confiable y verídica en los contenidos temáticos que se publican en las páginas Web.

    Doubtlessly the Internet has become the greatest revolution of the communication since the invention of printing. Nowadays there are in existence thousands of books, magazines, newspaper articles and other media that make us realize of the importance of this new tool as the most important factor in the information interchange.

    All the areas and activities of the human task have been influenced and affected by this developed technology mainly thanks to the generated investigation from diverse Universities all around the world. In this way a new platform was born which allows sharing the information and the knowledge in the institutions of superior education.

    Before the Internet, the teacher was the only reference that the student had in order to get to the knowledge. The professor had the monopoly of the specialized knowledge, the subjects, the concepts, the theories, the laws, the procedures, the methods, the bibliography, and all the resources of the teaching-learning process. For each student the only alternative for having access to knowledge about a scientific discipline was the search in a library, which used to represent a tedious task, as well as long and limited.

    These days, Internet, allows to break that stereotype of the knowledge. Any student have access, and exceed in incalculable way the knowledge of his professor and, for extension, in the rest of the world. So that the students have the possibility of finding an enormous variety of information that improves in a significant way the learning process.

    The technical training of students able to learn in a flexible way, supported in the use of the technology, is one of the most important challenges that is faced nowadays by institutions of superior education in the society of the information and knowledge.

    Nevertheless, the facilities that this alternative offers as a source of intelligence generates at the same time negative aspects in the technical training of the students, which must be taken into consideration by who are in charge of it in the universities.

    The negative aspect of the Internet comes from its own nature without regulations and restrictions. The exchange of information is free and without control, which gives as a result a confusion of options in the diffusion of academic works whose content can be false, with mistakes or because the information is not updated. The conflict of this situation is in the fact that the students of superior education have conceptualized the Internet as a reliable and veridical source in the thematic contents which are published in the web pages.
