Il saggio si basa su documentazione d´archivio, analizza i cambiamenti impressi dall´adesione spagnola alle relazioni tra la CEE e l´America Latina, con un approfondimento su quelle precedenti, per capire sia i motivi di un sostanziale disinteresse della Comunità che l´apporto spagnolo alla politica estera comune. La sottovalutazione storiografica delle relazioni precedenti tra CEE e AL ha intatti finora impedito di comprendere pienamente l´azione che la Spagna ha impresso per approfondirle

This assay, based on archival documentation, analyzes the changes occurred when Spain started participating in the relations between the EEC an Latin America. Previous relations are also tackled, in order to understand the reasons behind both the Community´s lack of interest in this respect and the Spanish contribution to the Common Foreign Policy. The historiographical underestimation of previous relations between the EEC and LA has prevented an accurate insight into the significance of the role played by Spain to strengthen them
