    En el contexto de los regímenes políticos surgidos en Grecia entre los siglos VIII y IV, sobresale el caso de Esparta, considerada unánimemente por las fuentes como ejemplo de sistema aristocrático, la más relevante de las escasísimas Poléis en las que no habría surgido la tiranía como fenómeno político y social. Aristóteles, en cambio, así como otros autores, ve en la consolidación del poder de los éforos una forma de tiranía distinta, pero tan nociva para el ordenamiento institucional espartano como otras formas convencionales de tiranía.

    In the context of the political regimes that emerged in Greece between the 8th and 4th centuries, the case of Sparta stands out, considered unanimously by the sources as an example of an aristocratic system, the most relevant of the very few Póleis in which tyranny would not have arisen as a political and social phenomenon.

    Aristotle, on the other hand, like other authors, sees in the consolidation of the power of the ephors a different form of tyranny, but too harmful for the Spartan institutional order as the other conventional forms of it.
