Resumen de Los padres fundadores de Euskadi en la Guerra Civil: José Antonio Aguirre e Indalecio Prieto

  Institucionalmente, Euskadi nació el 1 de octubre de 1936 con el Estatuto de autonomía aprobado por las Cortes republicanas en Madrid durante la Guerra Civil española. Los padres indiscutibles de dicho Estatuto fueron Indalecio Prieto y José Antonio Aguirre, quienes, como presidente y secretario de la Comisión de Estatutos, consensuaron su texto en vísperas de la guerra. Su buen entendimiento personal fue imprescindible para la entrada en vigor del Estatuto y la formación del primer Gobierno vasco de la historia (de coalición PNV/Frente Popular) del lehendakari Aguirre. A través de su correspondencia inédita, este artículo examina sus principales divergencias políticas y militares, que no impidieron su respeto y su amistad desde 1936.

  Institutionally, Euskadi was born on October 1, 1936 with the Statute of Autonomy approved by the Republican Parliament in Madrid during the Spanish Civil War. The unquestionable fathers of said Statute were Indalecio Prieto and José Antonio Aguirre, who, as president and secretary of the Statutes Commission, agreed on their text on the eve of outbreak of war. Their good personal understanding was essential for the entry into force of the Statute and the formation of the first Basque Government in history (the PNV / Popular Front coalition) of Lehendakari Aguirre. Through unpublished correspondence between them, this article examines their main political and military divergences, which did not impede their respect and friendship from 1936 onwards.

  Instituzionalki Euskadi 1936ko urriaren 1ean sortu zen, Espainiako Gerra Zibilaren erdian Madrilgo Gorte errepublikanoek Autonomia Estatutua onartu zutenean. Ezbairik gabe, Indalecio Prieto eta Jose Antonio Agirre izan ziren Estatutu horren aitak, Estatutuen Batzordeko presidentea eta idazkaria izanik gerra hastear zegoela testua adostu baitzuten. Ondo moldatzen ziren elkarrekin, eta hori erabakigarria izan zen Estatutua indarrean hasi eta historiako lehen Eusko Jaurlaritza (EAJ/Fronte Popularra koalizioa) eratzeko Agirre lehendakariaren eskutik. Bi gizon horien elkarren arteko korrespondentzia argitaratu gabetik abiatuta, haien desadostasun politiko eta militar nagusiak aztertzen ditu artikulu honek, 1936az geroztik haien elkarrenganako errespetu eta adiskidetasunerako oztopo izan ez zirenak.
